The article offers a culturological analysis of the creative legacy of Friedrich von Hardenberg (Novalis, 1772–1801) as a key figure of early German Romanticism. It examines the biographical preconditions that shaped his poetic-philosophical worldview, characterises his principal works, and clarifies their significance for an understanding of poetic language as a medium of the spiritual experience of culture. Within the framework of the dissertation research "Novalis and Antonych: Phenomenology of the Spiritual Experience of Culture", the article outlines the phenomenological potential of Novalis’s poetics and traces the typological trajectory "Novalis — Rilke — Antonych" as variations of a single European intuition concerning the poetic word as an event of disclosure of being. The article also analyses Novalis’s influence on the European philosophical and literary tradition, as well as the state of reception of his work in the Ukrainian scholarly space.
